Study Abroad Program Description
With context course offerings only at the advanced level of Spanish in art, culture, history, and literature, this program is perfect if you are looking to dive deep into the Spanish language and enhance your communicative skills. All classes are taught in Spanish by host university faculty at the Universitat de València and will be taken with other ISA students.
The program price includes 12 credits per semester, however should you want to enroll into a fifth course, you can for an additional fee. Please note that ISA cannot guarantee course placement.
A Spanish student visa is required for U.S. students participating in academic programs in Spain lasting 91 days or more. For non-U.S. citizens, you should contact your consulate to verify specific entry requirements. Please click on the "Spanish Visa Support" icon on the "What's Included" tab of this page to learn more about visa requirements and and the optional Spain Visa Service.

Housing
Studying abroad in Spain gives you the opportunity to experience various aspects of the Spanish culture you wouldn't otherwise have. Depending on your housing option, you will either be within walking distance to your university or conveniently located near public transit routes. Travel times to the various university buildings (with the exception of the Residencia to the UCV and FSU) generally range between 15 and 40 minutes will be contingent on housing and class locations. With an open and adaptable mind, the experience of living in another culture can be highly rewarding.
We strive to match your housing preferences with our available accommodations, however, housing preference requests cannot be guaranteed.
Homestay
Host families are a great choice if you are seeking full linguistic and cultural immersion during your time abroad. Each host family has been carefully selected by ISA’s resident staff in order to best accommodate your needs and to ensure a comfortable situation. Homestays will provide three meals a day and laundry service once a week. You will typically share a room with another ISA student of the same legal gender. Single rooms may be available for an additional fee.
Apartment
Apartments are a great housing option if you are seeking complete independence during your time abroad. Apartments are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability is limited. Rent and utilities are included in the program price, and each apartment is fully furnished and centrally located. Meals and laundry service are not included.
Student Residence
Certain programs allow you to live in a residencia for an extra cost. If you choose to live in the residencia, you will be placed in a double room, and you may be placed with other international roommates that are not part of the ISA program. Breakfast is served Monday through Friday in the residencias, and you will have access to the kitchen during both the week and weekend. Unlike a typical dorm in the US, the residencia is not located on campus. Please contact ISA for more information on the residencia option and to request a residencia contract.
Independent Housing
You may opt to secure housing independently. If you select this option, you will receive a discount equal to the housing portion of the program price. By choosing to opt out of ISA housing, you are responsible for researching and reserving housing, and paying all fees, deposits, and rent directly to the housing facility that you choose.
